Overview
VOWSA is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization benefiting the BC Special Olympics and the Vancouver Lifeguard Association. Volunteers are essential in putting on a swim season.
The VOWSA executive committee (all volunteers) is responsible for planning and running the VOWSA open water swim season.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM), usually held in February, is when executive roles change and new volunteers are elected. You may contact a current president to get an idea of how the organization is run.
The AGM is also a great opportunity to learn more about VOWSA. You are a voting member at the AGM if you have taken part in a VOWSA practice swim or swim race the previous summer. From April to August, VOWSA executive meetings are held once a month.
