Open Water Practice Swims Monday May 31st – Monday, Aug 30, 2010

These evening swims at Kitsilano Beach are perfect opportunities to meet new people and familiarize yourself with the challenges that await you in the open water. You can swim up to 5 km depending on your goals. You should be comfortable swimming 1 km in a pool. Sign up online and take advantage of the “Kits Special” or sign up at the beach (if signing up at the beach, you can bring the signed Waiver to the Beach, we have more of them at the beach). Only one is needed for the season. Start time is 6pm, in the water by 6:30 pm

Cost: $4 drop-in; $40.00 season membership

Canada Day Challenge – Thursday, July 1, 2010

 GVRD reminds us that NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ON THE BEACH. This is a parks bylaw, and will be enforced. If at all possible, please car-pool to save congestion in the parking lot.

 Location: Sasamat Lake (north of Port Moody)

Check-in times for chip pick-up and body-marking:

4km – 6:45 a.m – 7:45 a.m
2km – 7:00 a.m – 8:00 a.m 
1km – 7:45 a.m – 8:45 a.m

Note: check-in will be cut off 45 minutes prior to each event.  Please arrive early.

Start Times:

4km men – 08:30; 4 km women – 08:35
2km men – 08:45; 2 km women – 08:50
1km men and women – 09:30

79th Anniversary – The Bay Challenge – Sunday, July 18, 2010

Latest entry is 5 nights before, online. No registration at the pre-race briefing.

The meeting is on Saturday, July 17th at 5:30pm for about 1.5 hours behind the Watermark Restaurant at Kits Beach.

Location: Sandy Cove (West Vancouver) to Kitsilano Beach 9 km, solo and relay
Start time: 7:30 a.m.
Fee: Solo $50 Cdn or Relay $100, No entry at pre-race briefing

Relay Team entries
Only one paid registration is needed per relay team, team captain should register the team name. The exact number of people on the team and the respective names can be adjusted later if needed.

Kitsilano Challenge – Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Day of Race registration opens at 7:15 am – cash only. Registration closes: 8:00 am.

Location: Kitsilano Beach
Start times:
6.0 km – 0830
3.0 km – 0845
1.5 km – 0945
750 m – 0945
Relay is 4 x 1.5km
Fee: $30.00 Cdn (per person)
Relay Team entries – Every person needs to enter for the relay team.

Each event is limited to a total registration of 300 swimmers.

These start times are approximate and may be adjusted.

WETSUIT

Don’t have a wetsuit yet? Two great places to buy or rent wetsuits are Pacific Multisport, 4391 Main Street 604-876-4833 or International Diving Centre, 2572 Arbutus Street 604-736-2541. Both carry a great selection
of wetsuits, neoprene caps and goggles. Please mention VOWSA when renting.
